FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL LAWYER

Mante Molepo

Mante is a lawyer, governance professional, and the Founder and CEO of Mante Molepo Consulting. She works with executives and boards navigating periods of change and crisis—addressing complex challenges in governance, AI adoption, risk oversight, and organizational culture. Mante brings more than two decades of experience across government, non-profit, and corporate sectors. She holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Prosci certification in change management.

Mante began her career as a lawyer practicing international trade law, where she worked on the negotiations of some of Canada’s most ambitious free trade agreements. From 2022–2023, she served as the Innovator in Residence for the Ontario Bar Association and developed a Career Accelerator program for lawyers in emerging areas of law, including Artificial Intelligence, ESG, and Fintech.

An award-winning leader, Mante serves on the Board of Governors of the Ottawa Hospital and the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF). She has also served on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International Canada, Parents for Diversity—which she co-founded—and the Parkdale Food Centre.

Mante completed her Bachelor of Common Law and Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University. She was called to the Bar in Ontario.

AI GOVERNANCE

Somto Mbelu

Somto Mbelu has a background in philosophy with a focus on ethics, and he recently completed a PhD in AI Ethics at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He works at the intersection of AI ethics, policy, digital health, governance, compliance, risk, finance and business, bridging research and practice to shape technology that truly serves society. His work focuses on making AI fair, accountable, and inclusive, translating these principles into practical governance frameworks, policy strategies, and responsible design approaches. He is the founder of the Ottawa Responsible AI Hub and the convener of Canada’s foremost AI ethics summit, the Ottawa Responsible AI Summit.
